 The
B-Catagory Aktaion Hotel is a beautifully restored Neo-Classical
building on the waterfront in the port town of Githeon. All
rooms overlook the harbor and have balconies, hair-dryers, hot
and cold water, air-conditioning for the summer and heat for
the winter, television, music, and provide the most comfort
of any hotel in Githeon. The staff are helpful and hospitable
and the hotel is well cared for and clean. There is a breakfast
room (breakfast is optional) and a lounge downstairs and the
hotel is decorated with historical photos of Githeon that makes
walking to your room like a trip to the musuem. The hotel is
close to all the restaurants and cafes of Githeon and the foreign-press
bookstore is in the same building.
Githeon is only 45 minutes from Sparta and is the starting point for trips to the Mani, Mystras, The Diros Caves and Monemvasia. Besides having some of the finest food in the Peloponessos Githeon is surrounded by excellent beaches and beautiful mountains and sea. The hotel Aktaion has received hig praise from Matt Barrett and Lonely Planet Guides. |
