Delphi, known for the oracle which foretold the future in ancient times, is on the itinerary of most people who visit Greece with an interest in the classics as well as people who are not sure why they have come. Either way, they usually leave impressed. The ruins of ancient Delphi are among the most spectacular in the world and their location, high in the mountains overlooking the Gulf of Corinth is no less impressive. And for some who visit, the spiritual forces that spoke through the pythia, are still evident if you know how to listen. The town of Delphi has hotels of all shapes and sizes, many with the kind of spectacular view that people pay a small fortune for on Santorini. Arachova, the village next door is the ski capital of Greece and has several beautiful resorts whose peak season is in the winter. For those who want to be on the sea Galaxidi is one of the undiscovered treasures of Greece.
