Astypalaia is in the Dodecanese Island chain but could have easily been one of the Cyclades, since it is located about the same distance from the closest island in each group. Being neither here nor there had made it difficult to get to by ferry which of course put it on the must-do list of every traveler who wanted to visit an island that nobody else goes to. But in the last few years it has gotten easier to reach and has become a favorite spot for sail-boaters and yachters and there are a number of very nice small hotels here. Click on the links below to see my recommended hotels followed by other highly rated accommodations. You can also use the Astypalaia Hotel Search if the choices here seem too overwhelming or if you are looking for a particular hotel. A great way to plan your trip is my Create-an-itinerary page which allows you to put together a custom itinerary with the help of a travel agency with no obligation to book. You can find recommended travel agencies on Matt's Travel Agencies and Tours Page. For more information on the island visit Matt's Guide to Astypalia. |
